The London Design Festival and Open House both finish on Sunday 20 September, London Fashion Week opens on Thursday 17, and the International Space Station crosses the city every evening in between, brightest on Thursday at 9.01pm.

Monday 14 September starts with sunrise at 6.32am and sunset at 7.19pm, and the week loses a few minutes of light each day until Sunday, when the sun goes down at 7.06pm. [The Last Night of the Proms](https://richtravelmagazine.com/article/thirteen-things-to-do-london-this-week-7-september) at the [Royal Albert Hall](https://www.royalalberthall.com/) was on Saturday 12 September, as the hall's listings show, and the Great River Race rowed its 21.6 miles from Millwall to Ham the same day. The week that follows is the last full one before the equinox, with the Pangolin Shield still up at Aldwych and the Open House doors open until Sunday.

The House of Commons sits on Monday and Tuesday and then rises for the party conferences until 12 October. The Bank of England announces its rate decision at 12 noon on Thursday, the same day Fashion Week starts and the Lords finishes. The first Oktoberfest halls open in Bermondsey and on Shaftesbury Avenue on Saturday, and the Pearly Kings and Queens gather at Guildhall Yard on Sunday afternoon. The Met Office expects changeable weather with showers coming in from the Atlantic, so the outdoor parts of the week depend on the sky on the night.
