Speaking the Ocean Language Fluently: The International Surfing Day
Saturday 20 June 2026 is International Surfing Day, the eve of the summer solstice and a global celebration of waves, coastlines and the ocean that makes it all possible. The day is marked in more than 30 countries with beach cleans, free surf lessons, film nights and community paddle-outs. The ocean gave us surfing. The least we can do is look after it. If you have never stood on a board, this is the weekend to try. If you have, take someone who has not. The best things in life are better shared, and the sea does not charge admission.
